I am so immensely lucky to be able to work for myself. I love working with other small business owners who just like me, want to be able to create a life on their terms. They have the passion and drive to create a business of their own, support their families and possibly employ others too.
Which is why this Christmas, I want to give something back. I have taken some of the money I have earned through self-employment and donated it to the BOMA project, an organisation that helps women in Northern Kenya move out of extreme poverty by teaching them how to run their own business and giving them start up funding.
I think this is a fabulous initiative. As the video above shows, these women have so very little but by getting training and funding, they are shown how to create a life for themselves, supporting their children and boosting their confidence and happiness.
What a huge gift it is to me knowing that because I am self-employed and have managed to earn money, I am able to help less fortunate women in another country create a better life for themselves too.
Christmas is about giving. And what better gift could you give than the gift of hope? If you would like to donate to the BOMA Project, click here.
Wish you a very Merry Christmas!
